Water Industry Forum Event at Magna

10th September 2008

A free networking event hosted by the Water Industry Forum was held at Magna Science Adventure Centre on Tuesday 9th September between 2-6pm.

The event showcased 30 water and wastewater related companies from the Yorkshire and Humber region all exhibiting their products and services to visitors attending from across the UK. A wealth of experience and expertise was on hand to give free advice and information on any water or technical questions visitors may have had.

The Wakefield based Water Industry Forum is a not-for-profit organisation supported by Yorkshire Forward that operates a membership scheme via its website (www.waterindustryforum.com). The forum holds regular networking events and supports community based projects such as the Children Challenging Industry Initiative working in conjunction with the University of York and Skelton Grange.  This exciting project forms part of the National Curriculum in Science and will run throughout 2008/2009 where primary school children will be taught the value of the water cycle in a bid to encourage children to consider engineering as a career choice later in life.

Andrew Fox, Environmental Technologies Sector Manager at Yorkshire Forward said "Yorkshire Forward is delighted to support The Water Industry Forum's brand new event being held at Magna.  The Water Industry Forum represents the water and wastewater sector from Yorkshire and Humber and currently have a membership of 100 companies. The variety of companies that make up the membership offer a wealth of support and experience in the water sector and this event will help establish the region as a key source of water expertise for visitors attending from outside the region. Water and wastewater remains a prominent and important sector for Yorkshire and Humber and we are pleased the Water Industry Forum continues to provide an informative and varied service."

The Water Industry Forum will also be holding an event in spring 2009 themed around topical green issues such as recycling, sustainability and renewable energy. Please check the website for event details.
