Chamber Charity Ball A Sweet Success
20th May 2010Rotherham charities are to benefit from the generosity of hundreds of local business people, who dug deep for charity as Willy Wonka's famous Chocolate Factory arrived in the town last weekend.
Around 430 guests were present at the Chamber of Commerce's Rotherham President's Charity Ball, themed around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as the Magna Centre was transformed into a fantasy wonderland of colour, taste and fun.
Over £3,000 was raised on the evening and the monies will go into the Chamber's charity fund, which has raised around £100,000 for good causes in Rotherham over recent years.
Chris MacCormac, the Chamber's Rotherham President, said: "The night was a huge success and it was great to see so many smiling faces enjoying the escapism and fantasy in Rotherham's very own Chocolate Factory. We have had lots of positive feedback and are delighted the event gave our guests a chance to forget all about business for the evening, relax and enjoy themselves.
"I have to say a large thank you to all guests and sponsors for their generous response in supporting the event, and to the Gillian Banks Theatre School for their excellent entertainment. Once again, the ball has proved that Rotherham is a town full of people who care passionately about their local community, their donations will support the fantastic charitable activities which take place in Rotherham."
Local companies can still make a donation to the Chamber's Presidents Charity Fund - call 0844 414 5100 for more information.
