Science Weekend Lands at Magna

23rd February 2009

Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham will be holding special science workshops for budding scientists on the 7th and 8th March 2009 in celebration of Science and Engineering Week 2009.

Each year National Science and Engineering Week has a theme. This year it is 'Change'. The aim of the week is to celebrate science, engineering and technology and its importance in our lives. So Magna is a perfect place to celebrate and get involved with science at the former steelworks.  Explore the four elements in air, water, earth and fire with fantastic interactive exhibits, then test the forces in Sci-Tek outdoor play area; twisting, turning and spinning around.

Magna will also be running Kitchen Sink Show performances for Science Weekend on the 7th and 8th March for families visiting the centre. The Kitchen Sink Show children on a journey around the kitchen and opens up a world of science fun. It's a curious, messy, slimy world full of the materials and objects of everyday life. In addition, there will also be a special ScienceQuest around site for families to complete, with the chance to win a special prize.

There's still chance to take advantage of the Fabulous February offer at Magna. Visit during February and you can upgrade your full day pass to an annual membership - giving you free admission to Magna for a whole year!

There are plenty of activities coming up during 2009, including new interactives at Easter and the brand new special exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year, opening in June 2009.
