Photographers go Wild at Magna
20th January 2010Budding photographers were commended last night in a prize giving ceremony at Magna.
Winners of a special wildlife photography competition run by Magna and the Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham were presented with a prize pack including Magna Annual Passes, Wildlife Trust passes and photography vouchers.
The photography competition was run in conjunction with "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" exhibition being on display at Magna over the summer. A grand total of 233 entries were submitted to the competition and some breathtaking images were entered.
A panel of judges including representatives from BBC Radio Sheffield and the Wildlife Trust were led by Local photographer Paul Hobson, deliberated over the photographs to shortlist the entries. The shortlisted images were uploaded to the Magna website and over 3650 votes were cast by the public.
The prize giving evening gave the winning photographers a chance to be congratulated and presented with their prizes as well as a chance to take inspiration from head judge Paul Hobson. Paul commended all the entrants for their work and commented "The great part about this competition was that the public were able to vote for their favorite image, photography is very subjective and everyone has a different opinion on what makes a truly great image"
Rachel Bannister Marketing Manager commented "the quality of the images in the competition was fantastic. The judges had a real deliberation over the shortlisting process. It was great to see so many entries into this competition and last night's event was a nice way of congratulation the winners and presenting their prizes"
