Wildlife Photographer of the Year opens at Magna
29th June 2009The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition opened this weekend at Magna Science Adventure Centre. The exhibition showcases the very best in wildlife photography from around the world and had Magna visitors enthralled.
Paul Hobson a celebrated local photographer whose image "Osprey Snatch" is highly commended in the exhibition was at Magna on Friday evening to announce the exhibition officially open. Magna Annual pass holders and press were invited to a special preview evening before the exhibition officially opened on Saturday 27th June.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year is on site at Magna until 2nd August 2009. The exhibition is free to Magna visitors or just £5 per adult and £3 per child to visitors wishing just to view the photography.
Magna and the Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham are also running an exciting competition in conjunction with Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
Participants are invited to upload their photographs onto the Magna website at www.visitmagna.co.uk/wildlife. The competition is open until 16th October 2009. A panel of judges will then shortlist and the finalists images will then go onto the Magna website for voting by the general public. The winner of the competition will be announced on 4th January 2010.

- Nature Reserves - adult and child (under 16s)
- Urban and Garden Wildlife - adult and child (under 16s)
- Nature close up - adult and child (under 16s)
- People and Wildlife - adult and child (under 16s)
