Join us for our *Space Themed* Home Educator Day!
Monday 29th April 2024

Magna Science Adventure Centre is in an incredible hands-on environment with unique learning opportunities! Come and explore the history of steel making and the wonders of the four elements Earth, Fire, Water and Air.  

This day is fantastic opportunity for home educators to visit Magna. On this day we will not take any school bookings; all our staff onsite will be dedicated to engaging with home educator families. Our additional activities (included in the price) will be aimed at children aged 4-11.

  • To qualify for the home educator prices you must have at-least 1 child aged 4+ attending. 
  • £9 per child ages 4-15 
  • £4.5 per child aged 2-3 
  • £5 per adult 
  • Children aged under 2 years FREE 
  • 121 carers are free (please bring PIP/DLA letter)
  • These tickets are only valid for the event date.

  • Discovery time around Magna attraction. Explore air, fire, water and earth with over 100 hands-on exhibits.  
  • The Big Melt Show: ‘E’ furnace, one of the original electric arc furnaces, is brought to life with light, sound and special effects.  
  • Access to our outside play area – Sci-Tek. 
  • A bookable workshop.  
  • Drop-in activities and demonstrations thought the museum.  
  • Parking. We have space for over two hundred cars including disabled parking. 

  • Stars and planets- 
    Take a tour of the night sky and explore the planets of our Solar System, before investigating the forces that hold the stars and planets in place and then make a whoosh with some rocket fuel! Our star tour uses Stellarium planetarium software and is perfect for inspiring the interest of your children in the Earth and beyond. Book your time slot online.
    Suitable for children 4yrs+, this workshop has limited availability must be booked for in advance online.
  • Drop-in sessions: look out for our Magna attraction enablers, with space themed activities or demonstrations throughout the museum.  

 

  • No. Annual passes cannot be used to book onto the home educator days.
    Home educators are more than welcome to use their annual passes on any of our “normal” days during term time or the holidays.  
  • If you would like to purchase an annual pass, you can do so on your next visit, when purchasing a full price ticket.   

  • Our bookable workshops and drop-in activities will be aimed at children aged 4-11.  
  • Children of different ages will also enjoy a visit to Magna, with our 4 interactive pavilions and outside play area. We ask that younger children are taken out of the workshops if they are distracting the other children.  

  • No, everyone visiting Magna on this day will have purchased Home Educator tickets, and we won’t take any school or group bookings. 

  • Yes, younger siblings will also enjoy the museum and its many hands-on exhibits. However, there will not be planned activities aimed at their age group.  
  • To qualify for the home educator prices you must have at-least 1 child aged 4+ attending. 
  • Please note, all children (aged 0-16) must be supervised at all times during their visit to Magna 

  • Magna is a cashless venue. We only accept card payments for admission and in the café.  
  • We will except cash in the shop on a home educator day, as we know your little ones may want to spend pocket money here.  

  • We will not be able to provide refunds for this event.
  • Tickets purchased for this event cannot be transferred to another date. This includes workshops.

  • Magna opens at 10am you are welcome to arrive at any time, with last entry at 2pm. We close at 4pm.  
  • Please come to the front desk to redeem your tickets.  
  • If you have booked onto a workshop, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the session starts. If you miss your session, we will not be able to fit you into another one. 

  • All belongings should be taken around with you as we are unable to provide a space to store them. 
  • Magna is a coats-on experience. Please wear clothes suitable for outside temperatures. 

  • At Magna Science Adventure Centre, we want everyone to have an enjoyable visit and learn about science, technology, and the history of steelmaking. All of Magna is wheelchair accessible and we also have a changing place.
