Join us for our first SEND Day!

Magna Science Adventure Centre is in an incredible hands-on environment with unique learning opportunities! Come and explore the history of steel making and the wonders of the four elements Earth, Fire, Water and Air.
This day is a fantastic opportunity for SEND children, adults and SEND school groups to visit Magna. All our staff onsite will be dedicated to engaging with SEND visitors. Our additional activities (included in the price) will be aimed at visitors aged 4+.

How much does it cost?
- £9 for all visitors aged 4+
- £4.50 per child aged 2-3
- Children aged under 2 years FREE
- 121 carers are free (please bring valid ID, PIP or DLA letter)
- These tickets are only valid for the event date.
What is included in the price?
- Discovery time around Magna attraction, including over 100 hands-on exhibits.
- The Big Melt Show: ‘E’ furnace, one of the original electric arc furnaces, is brought to life with light, sound and special effects.
- Access to our outside play area – Sci-Tek.
- Drop-in activities.
- Sensory STEM room.
- Parking: We have space for over two hundred cars including disabled parking.
What drop in sessions are available?
- Our sensory room is full of STEM learning play equipment and open all day; drop in whenever you like. Please be mindful of other visitors.
- We also have two drop in rooms: Explore how materials change when you mix them together, stretch, and squish them by making slime you can take away. Hunt for fossils and gemstones in sand, then sort them to learn more about what you’ve found.
- These activities are included in your admission fee. If an activity is busy you may have to come back at a later time.
Will your café be open?
- Magna has a fantastic café that will be open and ready to serve during your visit. Find the Re-fuel Café in the Red Hall.
- Please inform a member of the café team of any allergies or intolerances.
- You are welcome to bring a packed lunch. There will be a packed lunch area available, or you are welcome to eat in the park outside.
- If visiting in a group of 10 or more we can provide a grab bag at £5.50 each. Please pre-order at least 3 weeks in advance by emailing booking@magnatrust.co.uk.
I’m already an Annual Pass holder, can I use it on SEND Day?
- Annual passes cannot be used to book onto the SEND days.
Visitors are more than welcome to use their annual passes on any of our “normal” days during term time or the holidays. (Please check our website for opening times). - If you would like an annual pass, you need to purchase a full price ticket on your next visit.
What age range is it suitable for?
- Our drop-in activities will be aimed at children aged 4+.
- Children of different ages will also enjoy a visit to Magna, with our 4 interactive pavilions and outside play area.
- Please note, all children (aged 0-16) must be supervised at all times during their visit to Manga
- We ask that you please be aware that our drop-in activity rooms and sensory area are available to visitors of all ages.
Will the museum be open to the general public too?
- No, everyone visiting Magna on this day will have purchased SEND day tickets.

Do you take cash?
- Magna is a cashless venue. We only accept card payments for admission and in the café.
- We will except cash in the shop on the SEND day only, as we know children & adults may want to spend pocket money here.
- Alternatively, if you are visiting in a group of 10 or more you can pre-order Magna souvenir bags by emailing bookings@magnatrust.co.uk.
What is your cancellation policy?
- We will not be able to provide refunds for this event.
- Tickets purchased for this event cannot be transferred to another date.
What time should we arrive?
- Magna opens at 10am.
- You are welcome to arrive at any time, with last entry at 2pm. We close at 3pm.
- Please come to the front desk to redeem your tickets.
Will there be somewhere to store our belongings?
- All belongings should be taken around the attraction with you as we are unable to provide a space to store them.
- Please ask if you need any first aid equipment storing.
- Magna is a coats-on experience. Please wear clothes suitable for outside temperatures.
How are we accommodating for SEND visitors on this day?
- At Magna Science Adventure Centre, we want everyone to have an enjoyable visit and learn about science, technology, and the history of steelmaking.
- All of Magna is wheelchair accessible.
- We also have a changing place.
